Rodeo Randy

Image
I have had so much fun today with this guy, I had to make two cards of him. The first one, eh, wasn't too thrill with the layout. So, I'm only going to show you the second one. One of the cards I will be sending to my brother, who lives in TX. He used to be a cowboy, not a rodeo cowboy, but a real life cowboy!  Ahhh how I glamorized his life as a cowboy...then he told me about getting up in the wee hours to muck the horse stalls and going to bed late after mucking them again. Okay, so not so glamorous, I guess!  The images (Rodeo Randy, the sentiment, and the barbed wire) are all from BDD . She has some AWEsome images. Please visit her store, you're sure to find, oh about a million images you want. :) Thanks Boni. Randy is colored with my Primsacolor markers, Zig markers and one Copic (his hat). I tried to make his shirt plaid...not so much. Sponged on some yellow around his upper body for the sun and brown chalk on outside of whole image.  Don't you just love the say

Dec 29, OWH challenges

Image
There are two challenges on OWH S&S page today. I'm gonna post both my pictures on one blog. My goal for the new year is to cut down on how many post I do. I think I was a bit excited at being a new blogger, and I might have overdone it a tad! So the first challenges is a Missing You for Kids, I actually made two cards, but they are in one picture (see I'm cutting it down everywhere!). This is a bit hard for me...my kids are grown, don't have grand-kids around me and I'm way too serious to remember fun/play as kids. But I gave it a shot anyhow. Kids missing you  And the second challenge today is Holiday Challenge #9, anything BUT pink.  I can do that...only thing pink is the froggy's tongue and cheeks, oops sorry about that. I love how his googly eyes just pop, like he can't wait to get to that fly! Anything but pink Happy Crafting, Shirley G

D2D Cardinals

Image
Oh my word. I love this image and I really like what I have done with it. I hope y'all do to. First the image is from D2D , big thank you to them for this wonderful image. The sketch (#49) is from OWH .  Now to what I have done with it.  I colored the cardinals with my Copic R29 and then with my Zig Pure Red. The beaks are with a Sharpie orange and Bic Summer Melon. Scarfs are Bic Hot Aqua (one on right), the left one is again theSharpie, orange and Copic  YR18. I used Prismacolor- Eggshell and Goldenrod for the "dirt" and for the sky I sponged on Stampabilities ink in Baby blue. I used make-up sponges and a cotton ball to get around the cardinals. The blue background paper is generated from my computer and then stamped with a Stampabilities stamp called Vine Background with same ink as the sky. All card stock from my junk pile. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. Happy Crafting, Shirley G

A few Valentines

Image
I thought I'd share what I did yesterday afternoon with Meljen's latest freebie. First thanks so much Melissa. I love Charlie Brown and this Valentine tree is soooo cute. :)  I wanted the image to be the focal point so I embraced the white area. NOT an easy thing for me to do. I second and even third guessed myself before I adhered the image to the card front. I do like how it turned out though. :) Enjoy and have a great day crafting or whatever you are up to. 3 have pink, 3 have red accents hmm, not as clears as I'd like Happy Crafting, Shirley G

Holiday Vacation Challenge #7 OWH

Image
Today we are supposed to make a card with a new toy from Santa and/or Christmas. Well I said I didn't get any new toys. That I had bought myself a couple digital images today from Just Ink .  Well, oops I lied. I didn't mean to, I just forgot that I had bought a couple of Cricut lite cartridges on black Friday.  But I had already made my card with my new image, so I'm leaving it at that! Hope that's okay with everyone. WOW, do I love this image. If you have been reading some of my post here and on my facebook page, you'll know I have cats. And they drive me insane, particularly at 3am when they want to play...on my bed, until they get me out of said bed. Then they are ready for a treat and a NAP. Now you can understand my insanity! LOL But they are my fur babies and I would give away/trade them for the world.  So having said that, this is my dedication to all us "crazy cat ladies"... I wasn't crazy about how I added the sentiment, but whatcha goin

My first card for today, all before breakfast. I'm entering it in this challenge, Craft your Passion -(red/green/cream) and will use the image for OWH Valentines. The deadline to get your package of Valentine cards to OWH is coming up, January 7, 2011. The image I used is, again, from Arthur's clipart. He's colored with mostly Prismacolor markers. I added a couple buttons, some ribbon and some glossy accent to the puppy's eyes. Enjoy click to enlarge Happy Crafting, Shirley G

I have two cards, actually, for this sketch. I had so much fun making the first that I made my next card using the same sketch. So I'll just post both here on same post. #49 sketch                                                                 Both images are from Arthur's clip art. Both are colored with copics and zig markers. I used my computer to generate the sentiments.                           Happy Crafting,                            Shirley G

Inspiration

Image
Inspiration can come from anywhere and everywhere. Where do you get yours?  I used to just look at an item for what it was intended for. NOW, I look at everything as "can I use that on my cards?", or "wooo I'd love to copy that on a card", to "hey that would be awesome on a card...must remember!".  Of course half the time I do not remember an idea, unless I have a) just seen it and went right to my craft area, or b) wrote it down, in which case I find the notes, weeks later! This is a card I made for OWH, deadline for Valentine cards is January 7th, 2011. So last couple crafting days I have been working only on V'day cards. Well, I got inspired by the oddest thing for this card. Now, don't laugh...it was toilet paper! It's "quilted" in this pattern and I thought, "hey, that would be awesome on a V'day card"...so right to the craft area I went. You're laughing, aren't you! ha ha....I did. Tell me what you th

OWH, #6 Boys, day two

Image
YAY We get to do another boy's card for OWH if we want. I did want! I like the image Eric Dull shared with us, so I used it for my second boy's card for this challenge. It was fun to color and I hope I did it justice by how I placed it on my card front. The young boy and his best bud sure do look like they are having fun. Ahhh the youthful days! Remember when? I kinda do! hee hee.   Well, it is colored using mostly Prismacolor markers, with a few Copics and Zigs thrown in for good measure. I took the "tin cans" as head lights, so there is a tiny bling on the card. Sorry boys! I colored the dogs collar tag with my silver paint marker, then added Glossy accents to that & both glasses. Not too much else going on with they card. Hope y'all like it. Have fun y'all Happy Crafting, Shirley G

OWH #6 Boys

Image
Merry Christmas everyone. Today's challenge is all about boys. I made this one last night, not knowing today's challenge. It worked out great. But tell me...do young kids still say "s'up, dude?"...hope so. It's my sentiment on this card. I got the image from here , I was directed to this site from Free digital Tuesdays.  I think this is a masculine, young man/boy's card. Let me know what you think of the sentiment. OWH Challenge #4, Dramatic Monochromatic

Image
Happy Holidays, I can not believe it's almost Santa time! YEAH!! This could be my last post before Christmas, so I wanted to wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....pssst it's my Birthday soon!  Age is creeping up on me, kinda like my card! If you follow me, especially lately you will have figured out my favorite color...Yes it's ORANGE!  For some reason that color just makes me happy, so I've been using it a lot lately. Wonder if I can wear out my "happy"! Hope not! This weeks challenge at OWH is make a card Monochromatic. Well the sample card is a pretty hard card to follow. It was made by one of our very own Heroes!  Great card. Please go check it out. Okay so my card is a little caterpillar inching his way to say HI. I'm sorry to the artist, I can't remember where I got this little guy. If you know, please let me know so I can give credit to them. Editor's note: the image is from Arthur's clipart. click on image to e

Holiday Vacation Challenge 3, Make it Shine

Image
Click image to make big The challenge today at OWH is to make a card that has bling, shine, do-dads but NO glitter. That could be dangerous for the soldiers.  As it could rub off on them and sparkle at night. My image is from E. Dulemba . Again, I love her images. I used that plaid orange paper I got on clearance. Wonder if they have more. I'm out and LOVE it!  He colored with my copics, little glaze on his eye to pop and 5 blings up by the computer generated sentiment. Don't ya wish you could just go to bed, read and Relax?  Me too. Enjoy, Happy Craftying, Shirley G

OWH Challenge 2 of holiday vacation

Image
click picture to enlarge This is a challenge to use up all those winter paper/images you might have laying around. Well my card is a winter image, not so much paper. I love this snowman and want to keep the card for myself. I think I will have to make a card front only to post on my board above my desk.  :)  The image is from Beccy, here . I can NOT get enough of her images. :) Thanks Beccy!  I went with tans/turquoise and browns for this card. See what ya think. Happy Crafting, Shirley G

OWH Sunday Sketch Challenge #48

Image
kids birthday card Today is sketch challenge day at OWH . Above is the card I made for it. The image came from Stampfairy website.  Some cool images there, you should go check it out, if you haven't already.  I thought I should use bright bold colors for a kids Birthday card. I think it works...it was fun making anyhow. Markers used are Copic and Primsacolor.  The sentiment is from Birds cards blog. There are some awesome freebies there & great cards...definitely check her blog out. Okay I'm done for the day. Happy Crafting, Shirley G

Valentine Snowman and Mittens for this weeks D2D challenge

Image
I'm telling ya, I so love D2D images. This is a very cute snowman, but I think mine is a snow woman! She is all decked out in pink and orange. I love those colors together. Couple heart shaped brads in the upper corner of the image and some buttons and bling on the bottom of the card. The sentiment is a meljen one. I think my snow woman looks cozy and wanted to convey that. Happy Crafting, Shirley G

OWH Vacation challenge 1

Image
I choose the Zig Zag card tutorial today for my card. I kinda like this card design. You will probably see more from me using it. The image is from Meljen s designs.  Cutie bear. I've had it colored for some time, so I can't get all the particulars. But I see some Copics and Zig markers.  I had a funky paper clip I had from who knows when and a bit of ribbon. The dp is Prima Stone Rose Collections from Prima Marketing Inc., except the front. It is The Paper Studio paper.  I will be adding a blank cardstock for someone to add their personal message. Happy Crafting, Shirley G

Christmas mini album

Image
Good Morning, I worked on this album all day yesterday and a couple hours this morning. I'm going to send it to my 20 y/o daughter. OWH challenge

Image
I had so much fun with these digi images. This is for OWH challenge posted on December 15, 2010.  You can get these awesome images here . They are perfect for any man in your life or charities you make cards for. It isn't always easy to find the right image for him, but I think you'll be happy with what you find at Bonibleaux Designs.  My Dad was in the Army for 20 years. Though he wasn't a General he was strict at home. I can just see him gritting his teeth and telling us kids "your other left"..only he might have added "you moron".  Anyhow, I had much fun with this image. I so love olive green. He is colored with Copics and Primsacolor markers. Not much do-dads on it, as it could be sent to a man. Just a star on the general's hat and some square brads in the corners. Now this guy was a lot of fun also. He also is colored with Copics and Primsacolor markers. Just two buttons for the "bling". I printed out the Honey-Do list on my comput

289-Peek a boo

This is for the 365 current challenge. It is supposed to be make a card with two peek a boo windows....simple, huh? It wasn't for me, I must say it WAS a big challenge for me. I thought I would have fun with it, but I got stressed over it. I'm not real happy with the outcome but what can I say....it's done. Happy Crafting, Shirley G
