New glasses

So I got some new glasses! It's so hard to get used to new ones, but I'm thinking I'll really like these.

The Holidays

Merry Christmas to all my blog friends.  I am so blessed that I get to have Christmas with my daughter and son n law!  It has been many, many years for that.  We are making yummy food, probably will watch a movie and of course open presents.  Depending on the weather here in AK we might get some outside time also.  It will be a busy but fun day. I wish you all a lovely day full of love, happiness and most of all the spirit of Christmas, Jesus! Hugs, Shirley

Storage

Image
Since moving to AK I have sorely be lacking in storage. Everything is so expensive here that I've been slowly getting things here & there. My wonderful son n law made this for me & hung it up this week! I still need more room for both stamps & ribbon but so happy to have this now

Hello everyone, Did you survive the Halloween kiddies?  I would guess we had around 130 trick or treaters.  My daughter and son n law put on a baby, but creepy, mask when they answered the door!  We carved a pumpkin (yeah that night...time just slipped away) and my daughter made pumpkin seeds and a pumpkin cheesecake! All was delicious!  She's a great cook/baker!  Today as I'm going through my blog following list I see Karen's new Post for her 2013 calendar she is making. I have to say, I'm bookmarking post so I can refer to them when I attempt this. Karen is such a crafty inspirational figure in my followings. I just can't wait to see what she comes up with next!!! So scrolling down her blog I come across this Post . Karen is always so generous with her give away's.  Good luck to everyone...but I hope I win! :)  Thanks Karen for the inspiration and the chance for some blog candy. I suggest y'all go check out Karen's blog and all her wonderful

Halloween and Fall

Image
Fall is one of my favorite times.  However here in the Arctic there's not much fall to see.  So I made a few cards to send back home and that helped my fall "craving". Sorry for the poor pictures. I took them with my iPhone, couldn't been better I suppose. :) This image is from D2D , called Owl and Pumpkin.  It was super fun to create a card with. Check out all their wonderful images.  This image and the next are from Elizabeth Dulemba 's coloring page.  Thanks E for such fun images. Spooky Pumpkin Well, Halloween everyone. Halloween 2012

Image
Well....you can say I have been lax on posting. As some of you know, maybe all, I moved to AK in May. When I moved here I brought card stuff and clothes. I THOUGHT I brought all the card stuff I would need....wrong! Really I'm not sure I can have all the stuff I need or want.  Anyhow long story short I haven't made much cards lately.  But I got an opportunity to play with a new release from Dude Time Doodles ...check them all out.  I just love all their images and the sentiments...oh my!  Well anyhow, here is my card. I used a golden card stock for the body of the card, added patterned green paper and then spiderweb stickers on the green paper. I used several different type of markers (as I have few copics).  This "Great Punkin" is having a blast playing in the pumpkin field. If you want to take a look-see at all the other great cards using the new releases please go here As usual...Happy Crafting. Shirley G Kotzebue, AK

Who doesn't love Candy, be it chocolate, fruity flavored candy, or better yet (as there's NO calories) blog candy. Karen Howard from the great state of MN has some blog candy for a lucky winner. Check this out; Doesn't this make your mouth water?  It does mine...I love do dads, embellishment things.  So if you want a chance to get your hands on this yummy treat go to Karen's blog and follow her instructions. Yay Karen!! Have fun in your blogging. Shirley G

Kotzebue, AK

Well it has been a busy two weeks so far. I am MOVING!!! My daughter and son n law live in Kotzebue , AK and so I started asking questions on what it was like to live there and the job market, etc. Before you know it Amanda, my daughter, was sending me text and emails with job sites and current jobs to apply to. Then my Sam, s/l, got involved and had found me a cheap airline ticket. SOOOOO, yup I'm moving. I sold my Jeep, bought some winter clothes/shoes and started packing my stuff. I have packed all my card stuff and will ship it out this week. So, sadly, no card making for me for awhile. :) But for a good reason. I'm excited about the move, (it will be great to live around my daughter) but scared and somewhat sad. I'm leaving my two cats with my sister (who moved in with me 6 months ago), I'm leaving a few good friends, but there is always SKYPE , right!?  Any who....again, it will be awhile before I post here. But I will try to get you some travel pictures and the

Cards for Emily

Image
Dustin Pike has another awesome digital set you can get by make and mailing a card for a sick little girl, Emily. Please go to Dustin's blog to find out how you can participate and cheer up a wonderful little girl!   Below are a few different shots of the card I made for Emily. I sure hope she likes it and maybe it will give her something to smile about. :) Many thanks to Dustin for the awesome digital images and for inspiring me to do something "worthy" with my cards. I have been busy

Image
My daughter wants to buy some of my cards. So for the past few days I have been very busy. I love being back in the swing of crafting!  Here are just a few I made her. Hope you like them as much as I did making them. And more importantly I hope Amanda, my daughter, loves them! Perhaps I can generate more "business" from y hobby! Have a good one, Shirley G

Update

Hi Everyone,  I thought I'd post a small update on what's going on here. I've had a few leads on jobs and now just waiting for the responses. It has gotten cold here, I hope it doesn't last too long. :)  Still not making many cards but am working on a scrapbook that I made by converting a child's hard book into an album. Quite fun. I'll post some pictures soon.  Ya'll take care. Blessing, Shirley G
