Halloween in July

Image
Don't you just love halloween ? I know I do. I think it's the colors, when I think of Halloween I think orange, lime green, purple and black. And I think othse colors combined are pretty awesome . So I've made a few halloween cards lately. I'm sure there will be many more. The stamps are old rubber stamps given to me. So I can't let you know the company(s). Sorry about that...but use what's in your stash ! The pattern paper is again an old 6x6 pack gifted to me. I colored the images, mostly, with Prismacolor pencils. There are a few places I used sharpie markers . I hope you enjoy them and get inspired to make cute Halloween cards. Show me yours! thanks for checking out my blog. Have a great day Shirley G

Moving

I am in the process of moving my craft room from a tiny back bedroom . That room faces the NW, windows on both sides, 3 doors and a closet. Oh and there is the utility closet also. So you can imagine hardly any wall space. Since sit just me and Lucy, the cat, I have no problem with my craft room moving to the front/living room . I don't have many visitors so that won't be an issue either. Recently I was blessed with a wonderful gift of a lot of stamps, inks, and paper. I'll be posting more paper crafts but may not be able to tell who the company is for some projects . So I'm off here and back to the moving. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Easter 🐇 if you celebrate. Shirley

Blueberries

Image
I joined a "blueberry" swap. I was supposed to make a tag, two ATCs or a dexcard. I choose a tag, but what image to use. I don't have any blueberry stamps....so my first attempt was the lady. I colored her in all blues with a few other colors for small parts. She doesn't scream blueberry, does she?  So I went on Pinterest and search blue berry images and found quite a few. The blueberry man was one that I tried to copy. I'm not an artist but he kinda looks like a blueberry man. Right? I'm still not satisfied so I found the cupcake (Tim Holtz image). I has a candle in the icing that I masked off using washi tape. I colored it all blue using some copics, sharpies and my white gel pen. I made the small blueberries using a circle stencil I have and free handed the details. I attached Blueberry man to the back of the cupcake tag, added ribbon and called it complete. I ended up sending her all of the attempts with a note on my thoughts.  So what do you think about i...

Hello again...

Okay, well it's been a hot minute since I last posted. As in 5 years. What???? Wow, even I am stunned by that. I'm gonna change up the blog a bit and not make it just about my cards, though they are still a big outlet for my crafting. But I'm going to add different things I'm doing or trying to do as it may be.  First I have to reacquaint myself how to blog! Pointers welcomed. Recently I have been swapping in different FB groups, pocket letters, ATCs, dexcards, tags, etc. As you can see paper crafts.  I'm now working at an Animal Hospital as a receptionist and let me just say one word "stressful". I do LOVE all the animals. It is so fun to see the variety that comes in and of course I love to cuddle the new puppies and kittens if I have time to. But it is a very very busy place...did I say very, let me say it again very Busy! It is a totally new thing for me and I find I know notta about vet medicine. I've been there 3 months now, so I got the basics ...

Always on my mind

Image
This cutie is from Whimsy Stamps and bonus, she is on sale. Hurry on over and get yourself a copy of her...I'll wait! I ordered her and a few dies just a week ago. Let me tell you that is fast since I live in AK, everything takes forever!  I couldn't wait to play with her.  I used bic markers and some pencils to color her. The sentiment is from an old set I have...it's called Hello Sunshine, sorry I don't have the company's name.  But I kinda think Gina K.... I used an old OWH sketch for this card and a clock face brad. Have a good day and remember "you're always on someone's mind" Hugs, Shirley

Scrappers Delight

Image
This cute little guy is one of Scrapper's Delights images.  He is toadly (I know, cheesy) fun to create with! I encourage everyone to go check out their store. To get this guy for free you have to comment on their FB page. I used Bic Ultra Fine markers (I'd like to have the whole Copics set but it is just not in my budget). I did some watercoloring for the background and then used SU Work of Art stamp set for the dark green lines.  I added some flowers and punched some "leaves" from the Martha Stewart punch.  My frog is holding a heart...I think he just found l.o.v.e.!! Hope you all enjoy him as much as I did. Hugs, Shirley

New begginings

WOW it has been a long time since I blogged.  So this is all about new/different beginnings. I now live in "the Valley" AK. I've been a AK resident for four years and love/hate it. I love the summers, even tried my hand at gardening last year. My zucchini and cucumbers did awesome. My tomatoes not so much!  This year I will be gardening in the ground as opposed to container gardening I did last year. I have added to my family by two. Two fur babies..Prissy, a 7 year old rescue cat. She's a lover and likes nothing better than sleeping in my lap. She can not stand it when I am speaking on my phone via the speaker or watching You tube videos on my iPad.  And then just this week I added a husky, Bridgette. She is 4 years old and was given to me by a co-worker. She is such a good girl and wants to play so much with Prissy (or does she want to eat her???). Prissy is having none of that and hisses if Bridgette even looks at her. I hope someday she will at the very least l...

Anchorage

Image
Took a weekend trip to ANC and surrounding towns this weekend. A MUCH needed trip. Alaska is beautiful! Having a great time, sight seeing, shopping and eating great food. I live in Kotzebue and there isn't the chain stores/restaurants there. Ah, how I miss them....sometimes. I am ready to get back home, though. I thought I would share a few pictures of some of the things I have experienced.

New glasses

So I got some new glasses! It's so hard to get used to new ones, but I'm thinking I'll really like these.

The Holidays

Merry Christmas to all my blog friends.  I am so blessed that I get to have Christmas with my daughter and son n law!  It has been many, many years for that.  We are making yummy food, probably will watch a movie and of course open presents.  Depending on the weather here in AK we might get some outside time also.  It will be a busy but fun day. I wish you all a lovely day full of love, happiness and most of all the spirit of Christmas, Jesus! Hugs, Shirley

Storage

Image
Since moving to AK I have sorely be lacking in storage. Everything is so expensive here that I've been slowly getting things here & there. My wonderful son n law made this for me & hung it up this week! I still need more room for both stamps & ribbon but so happy to have this now

Feline Creative

Hello everyone, Did you survive the Halloween kiddies?  I would guess we had around 130 trick or treaters.  My daughter and son n law put on a baby, but creepy, mask when they answered the door!  We carved a pumpkin (yeah that night...time just slipped away) and my daughter made pumpkin seeds and a pumpkin cheesecake! All was delicious!  She's a great cook/baker!  Today as I'm going through my blog following list I see Karen's new Post for her 2013 calendar she is making. I have to say, I'm bookmarking post so I can refer to them when I attempt this. Karen is such a crafty inspirational figure in my followings. I just can't wait to see what she comes up with next!!! So scrolling down her blog I come across this Post . Karen is always so generous with her give away's.  Good luck to everyone...but I hope I win! :)  Thanks Karen for the inspiration and the chance for some blog candy. I suggest y'all go check out Karen's blog and all her wonderfu...

Halloween and Fall

Image
Fall is one of my favorite times.  However here in the Arctic there's not much fall to see.  So I made a few cards to send back home and that helped my fall "craving". Sorry for the poor pictures. I took them with my iPhone, couldn't been better I suppose. :) This image is from D2D , called Owl and Pumpkin.  It was super fun to create a card with. Check out all their wonderful images.  This image and the next are from Elizabeth Dulemba 's coloring page.  Thanks E for such fun images. Spooky Pumpkin Well, Halloween everyone. Halloween 2012

Image
Well....you can say I have been lax on posting. As some of you know, maybe all, I moved to AK in May. When I moved here I brought card stuff and clothes. I THOUGHT I brought all the card stuff I would need....wrong! Really I'm not sure I can have all the stuff I need or want.  Anyhow long story short I haven't made much cards lately.  But I got an opportunity to play with a new release from Dude Time Doodles ...check them all out.  I just love all their images and the sentiments...oh my!  Well anyhow, here is my card. I used a golden card stock for the body of the card, added patterned green paper and then spiderweb stickers on the green paper. I used several different type of markers (as I have few copics).  This "Great Punkin" is having a blast playing in the pumpkin field. If you want to take a look-see at all the other great cards using the new releases please go here As usual...Happy Crafting. Shirley G Kotzebue, AK

Image
Who doesn't love Candy, be it chocolate, fruity flavored candy, or better yet (as there's NO calories) blog candy. Karen Howard from the great state of MN has some blog candy for a lucky winner. Check this out; Doesn't this make your mouth water?  It does mine...I love do dads, embellishment things.  So if you want a chance to get your hands on this yummy treat go to Karen's blog and follow her instructions. Yay Karen!! Have fun in your blogging. Shirley G

Kotzebue, AK

Well it has been a busy two weeks so far. I am MOVING!!! My daughter and son n law live in Kotzebue , AK and so I started asking questions on what it was like to live there and the job market, etc. Before you know it Amanda, my daughter, was sending me text and emails with job sites and current jobs to apply to. Then my Sam, s/l, got involved and had found me a cheap airline ticket. SOOOOO, yup I'm moving. I sold my Jeep, bought some winter clothes/shoes and started packing my stuff. I have packed all my card stuff and will ship it out this week. So, sadly, no card making for me for awhile. :) But for a good reason. I'm excited about the move, (it will be great to live around my daughter) but scared and somewhat sad. I'm leaving my two cats with my sister (who moved in with me 6 months ago), I'm leaving a few good friends, but there is always SKYPE , right!?  Any who....again, it will be awhile before I post here. But I will try to get you some travel pictures and the...

Cards for Emily

Image
Dustin Pike has another awesome digital set you can get by make and mailing a card for a sick little girl, Emily. Please go to Dustin's blog to find out how you can participate and cheer up a wonderful little girl!   Below are a few different shots of the card I made for Emily. I sure hope she likes it and maybe it will give her something to smile about. :) Many thanks to Dustin for the awesome digital images and for inspiring me to do something "worthy" with my cards. Shirley G

I have been busy

Image
My daughter wants to buy some of my cards. So for the past few days I have been very busy. I love being back in the swing of crafting!  Here are just a few I made her. Hope you like them as much as I did making them. And more importantly I hope Amanda, my daughter, loves them! Perhaps I can generate more "business" from y hobby! Have a good one, Shirley G

Update

Hi Everyone,  I thought I'd post a small update on what's going on here. I've had a few leads on jobs and now just waiting for the responses. It has gotten cold here, I hope it doesn't last too long. :)  Still not making many cards but am working on a scrapbook that I made by converting a child's hard book into an album. Quite fun. I'll post some pictures soon.  Ya'll take care. Blessing, Shirley G

WOW

Has it really been seven months since I last posted? Ahh live has a way of changing all the time, doesn't? I don't have a new card to post. I hardly make them anymore, not because I don't want to but because I don't have the resources yet. Let me bring you up to date on what's going on here... My sister moved in with me in August,(that is a challenge in itself) neither of us have found a full time job. One of us will get a day here or there with a temp service but really not enough to live on. I am sitting at the local convenience store typing this up now, using the free wifi. I soooo miss my cable and internet at home. I just got over a case of "cat scratch fever"...yes it really is an illness. I suffered for a week before I broke down and went to the doc. I was put on antibiotics and am now feeling better, not 100% good, but better. UGH, another bill to worry about. My middle child had a baby (well his wife did) this November, so now I'm a grandm...
